Just A Little Something to Spice Up Your Sunday Night

"I swear to you I saw a red squirrel run up that tree." He looked so innocent, his blue eyes wide and his smile dazzling, that Rainie almost believed him, until she saw out of the corner of her eye that he was shifting his Rook forwards a square.

"I can see what you're doing, you know." With her hands on her hips Rainie walked forwards a pace or two. Nick shifted back just out of her reach.

"Stop that." She advanced, and leaned around him, trying to get a hold of the offending Chess piece.

"Not fair. That's cheating," he said, grabbing her around the waist and swinging her away easily.

"I'm cheating?" She laid her hands against the hard planes of his chest. "You're the one claiming there's a red squirrel in the trees."

"There really was." Nick tilted Rainie's head up so that she was looking into his eyes. His lips hovered above hers, and his breath was hot on her face. "Look there it is."

"What? Where?" Rainie let out the breath she'd been holding in anticipation and span around on the spot. There was no squirrel in sight. When she turned back, Nick's Rook had advanced three squares and was in a perfect position to take her Queen. "Your move," he said with a grin.
