A New Era for My Creative Journey

Hey friends,

If you’ve been following along recently, you might have noticed things shifting around here — from my website’s look to how I talk about my books and goals as an author. It’s not just a fresh coat of paint — it’s part of a deeper evolution.

💫 Stepping Back from Spice, Moving Into Heart

Although The Starlight Prince came out earlier this year (and I’m proud of it!), my creative compass has shifted. After writing a trilogy of spicy stories in 2024, I’ve found myself drawn to something with more soul than steam — stories with emotional weight, social themes, and deep-rooted magic.

🔮 Reconnecting With the Witch Triplets

Since March, I’ve thrown myself back into the world of my witch triplets. I’ve written 60k words on their novel and planned a prequel novella that will appear in the Within The Woods anthology this October. It’s been an incredibly fulfilling project — one I want to give the care and time it deserves.

✨ A Slow-Burn Approach

I’m not rushing this one. I want the full novel to be polished and powerful before I even think about a release date. I’ll be working closely with my husband (my first beta reader!) to shape the story before handing it to other readers and editors.

📚 Not Just Books — A Community

Earlier this year, I also launched The Kindred Book Club — a space to highlight indie authors and support important causes. What started as a Patreon concept has now become a free, inclusive Discord community. Paid tiers might come later, but for now, everyone’s welcome.

🎉 Our first event, Reading With Pride, kicks off in June!
We’ll be spotlighting LGBTQIA+ indie authors and raising funds for Stonewall.

🌈 Faith, Love & the Stories We Tell

In embracing the themes that matter most to me — love, justice, kindness — I’ve also felt ready to speak more openly about my spirituality. Yes, I’m Christian. And yes, I’m queer, neurodivergent, and write fantasy with a “witchy” edge. These identities aren’t contradictions — they’re part of a bigger picture rooted in love.

"My own heroes are the dreamers, those men and women who tried to make the world a better place than when they found it..."
— George R.R. Martin

That quote sums up everything I’m trying to do: whether through my books, my book club, or my everyday actions, I want to be a small light in this world.

Thanks for being here and reading. I’ll be back soon with another post, this time all about queer rep in fiction and why it matters.

Stay kind, stay curious, and above all — stay creative.
💜 Clare
