C is for Change

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and visited my B is for Bill Bagley post yesterday! Hope you're all still enjoying the little glimpses into my novel.

Today, for letter C, I have an excerpt that I originally cut from chapter one. Though I like what I wrote, Hubby (who edits for me) felt it was best cut, so the chapter ends with Megan's realization she's pregnant.

So, here's Megan's initial thoughts on the life-changing news ...

I stared down at the result in my shaking hands, hardly believing it was true. It wasn't possible.

Something like this simply couldn't happen to me. There was no way the result could be positive – for starters I hadn't been in a serious relationship for over a year.

Then I remembered that night with Kian. I hadn’t even thought about protection, let alone mentioned it. How could I have been so stupid?

My whole future was planned out ahead of me – graduate uni, travel, get a job, buy my own place, find a nice guy, get married, settle down, have kids – children weren’t on my agenda for at least another ten years!

I flung back the toilet seat and puked my breakfast into the bowl.

This changed everything.

Thanks for reading. If you want to read the whole of chapter one, it can be found here.

And if you're interested, I'm blogging for Curiosity Quills Press today, for the A-Z Challenge, with what the literary world means to me.

Don't forget to check back tomorrow for D. Until next time!

  5. Life sure does throw us a curve ball sometimes. I remember when I found out I was preggers for the second time (only eleven months after the first time) and I have to admit I freaked out for a minute. I thought I had the flu. Ha. Instead I had Farrah. But it was all worth it in the end. Now my girls are so close I wouldn't change a thing about the timing. Even though I did wind up being pregnant for three years in a row. LOL

Oh wow, pregnant three years in a row, I don't know if I could handle that (mine are 7 years apart.) Hats of to you, Momma! :D
