I'm currently ...

I haven't posted for a while - apart from to promote Carrie Butler's awesome cover for STRENGTH. If you haven't seen it, check it out - so I thought I'd say "hello".

As I haven't got much to report writing wise - I'm taking a break from writing, to edit the first 65k of Cupid, and today I made the insane decision to change it from past tense to present tense. I've also joined a critique group, and have been getting to know the lovely people there. They were a great help offering feedback on my flash-fiction piece for Jessa Russo's GHOSTS (and the girls who love them!) BLOG-HOP.

When I saw Jessa's most recent post, of things she's currently loving/watching/reading/ anticipating/wishing, I thought it seemed like a cool idea and decided to play along.

I am currently:

Loving ...

I want my hair like this!
*swoons*
The approach of Autumn. There's a chill in the air, the leaves are just turning and I can feel my favourite season is almost upon us.

Short hair. I love Miley Cyrus' new cut, and wish I was young enough to pull something like that off. Instead, I'm seriously considering having my shoulder length hair cut in a pixie-cut.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Ever since I saw him in The Dark Knight Rises, I've been crushing on him so hard. Joseph is also the inspiration for the leading man of my in-the-planning stages romantic suspense novel.

Ever by Jessa Russo

Jessa kindly sent me a ARC of EVER, and I got started on it last night. I'm three chapters in and loving it so far. My plan for this weekend is to devour it!

Watching ...

Who is her lover?

Most of the American TV shows I love have ended now, but I've still got the WWE, EastEnders (who is Kat's mystery lover?!), Neighbours and Home & Away to keep me entertained. Why yes, I am a soap opera addict!

Thinking about ...

The new Tom and Jerry?

Writing stuff. I'm still trying to work out how to eliminate passive voice, so any tips are appreciated, and now I'm about to edit the first 65k of Cupid.

Anticipating ...

We're going here!

Oh man, there's so much I'm anticipating. The return of my favourite U.S shows, like Dexter, Fringe and The Walking Dead. And the return of UK favourite Merlin - the stills of Morgana are badass!

Kyra Lennon's forthcoming release of Game On sequel, and novella If I let You Go, and what Kyra has planned for December.

My four-day holiday to Prestatyn Sands at the end of October.

Getting a new Kindle/ Tablet for Christmas.

Christmas and Halloween.

My Hubby getting his first round of advertising money for his site Video Games Interactive.

Wishing ...

I wanna build houses!

I had more time to play on Sims 3 and Skyrim. My mansions and virtual husband will have to wait, I have a novel to complete!

  1. Good luck on the verb tense switch. I have tried present tense on occasion, but it is just not for me.

Currently, I am starting a new school year, and it looked like it was going to be a cake walk until I got a new student yesterday. He did not make a good impression on his first day, and it looks like it might be a difficult year.

I am also starting to plan and design swag for my book coming out in May. I have a short story project to work on, and several books coming out this fall I look forward to reading.

I'm enjoying the new Doctor Who, and also waiting anxiously for The Walking Dead!

    1. Thanks. I've never done it before, but it feels right for this story. I'm starting to feel present tense is a first person perspective thing.

Oh no, sorry you've got a difficult student. I hope he doesn't turn out to be as bas as you first thought, but if he is, that you can pull him into line.

You sound very busy. Good luck with the short story project, and blog tour.

I watched the first episode of Doctor Who and greatly enjoyed it; I'll be looking forwards to the mid-series finale and new companion.

    1. I sure have! And yes, even without Levitt in, that movie looks excellent. I love Bruce Willis.

    1. Thanks Morgan, glad you found it amusing! :D

I've done one chapter, and was surprised, it wasn't as bad as I thought. I can see already it's gonna improve the story.

  5. That hair cut would look amazing on you! It's so cute.

The vacation spot looks like a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Enjoy it!

Wish we lived closer, I'd love to be in a critique group with you. I love reading what you write!

Hope you have a great weekend. I'm supposed to go see/support my friend Becca dance, at a local Ren Faire. She's a belly dancer, so it should be lots of fun!

    1. Thanks. I've had my hair short before, and I think it's time to again.

Thank you. I went there as a child and loved it, I'm sure my boys are gonna enjoy the pool, archery and other activities.

It's actually an online critique group. If you're actually interested in reading my stuff, I'd love to have your opinion. :D

Hope you have a great weekend too - hope you have fun seeing your friend. I'd love to go to a Ren Faire, but they don't have any in my area. :(

  6. I'm totally with you on Joseph G-L! I've loved him for ages and his was my favourite character in The Dark Knight Rises. (I was so upset he didn't wear a Robin suit!)

You should definitely go for the pixie cut; I think it will really suit you.

Love this post.. I might have to steal the idea and try to revive my dead blog!

    1. I've been aware of him and thought he's cute for years, but in DKR it was suddenly like "Oh, hello!"

Thanks. I'm seriously tempted, though then I wouldn't be able to do cute plaits. :(

You should, it was a lot of fun. :)

  7. Good luck with the tense changes, it's always daunting to do such a drastic change, but I often find that it is worth it :)

I have a pixie cut, and am currently in the process of growing it out! I loved it for a while, but my hair is stupidly thick which means its a lot of upkeep!

I've been swooning over JGL for years, and he was so good in DKR! I can't wait to see Premium Rush, him in his tight little cycling shorts LOL.

Good luck with the edits :)

    1. Thanks. Did the first chapter and it went pretty well. Hopefully the rest will too.

I love your hair, it's so cute. Mine has grown out a lot since my profile pic, and I feel like a change again.

As I said above, I've thought JGL was cute for years, but in DKR, hello mama!

      Thanks!

  8. Best with the editing and critique groups. They really are great with the right people. I think they help a lot.

From your picture, you look like you can pull off short hair very well. I just let mine grow out, but I'm sure I'll cut it again in the future.

    1. Thanks Mary. They really are a great help, I've gotten to know so wonderful people through it.

That picture was from the first time I'd had short hair in about ten years. I find as I'm getting older, it's just easier to manage. :)

  9. Good luck with the tense change. It is a major undertaking but if it feels right you have to go for it! That hairstyle is soo cute.
