Dust It Off Bloghop: Pitch

I'm here today with the first post in Theresa Paolo and Cortney Pearson's three part DustIt Off Bloghop.

The aim of the bloghop is to talk about a shelved manuscript, that for one reason or another has been put on the back burner.

I have the honour of doing this bloghop with one of my close friends, Kyra Lennon. Kyra and I started work on this story back in 2006, and wrote nine chapters, before other projects, real life, and a whole heap of other stuff got in the way.

Now we're "dusting it off" for this bloghop. After that, who knows what the future holds for this manuscript?

The idea of today's post is to write a 1-2 sentence pitch (Great way to practice pitches) about the shelved WIP.

Here is what Kyra and I came up with for ours:

For best friends Caitlin and Tori, their first acting job out of Uni opens up a whole new world for them – unfortunately, it wasn’t the world they were expecting. When the strains of adult life and tangled relationships threaten to ruin their friendship, they are forced to take a look at what’s really important.

  3. As I said on Kyra's page, your story sounds excellent :) How do you find working with someone in your writing? I've never considered it myself!

    1. Thank you. I love working with Kyra. I work best when I have someone to bounce ideas off, they feed my creativity, and that's what Kyra and I did.

  5. So, who wrote whom? And who came up with the initial idea?

    1. I wrote Caitlin, and Kyra wrote Tori. I honestly cannot remember who came up with the initial idea. I think that was a joint effort too, that we bounced off each other.

  7. Best friends are still bff's even if they grow apart or life leads them in different ways. Sounds like an awesome read! Can't wait to learn more.

    1. I agree! The mark of a true best friend is when you can not speak to them for years, then pick up where you left odd.

  12. I like the pitch. I'd read this book. But, I get it. My first novels are shelved, too. Someday I'll pretty them up.

I have a couple of shelved novels, but this one really pulls me to pretty it up! ;)

  13. Love this! I raved on Kyra's page and I don't want to shorthand you so I'm going to copy and paste if that's okay :)

Love the fact that you and Kyra co-wrote this. I love collaborations because each person could bring a little something else to the table. And your pitch, totally sounds like something I would pick up off the shelf, read and walk right to the register with. I hope you two revisit it again one day. I would read it in a heartbeat.

    1. Thank you for dropping by and commenting.

I really like collaborations too. I like having someone to bounce off, and I like when two styles meet.

As the idea has stayed with Kyra and I for six years, it's something we're seriously considering revisiting.
