Happy Valentine's Day, Everyone!
I hope you're having an excellent day whether you're coupled off or not.
I'm here with another blog fest / hop / thing post.
Today it's the "Is It Getting HOT in Here? Valentine's Day Blog Hop!" Hosted by the lovely Cassie Mae and Hope. Thank you ladies for putting this together, and offering prizes.
Once again I'm sharing a little something from my current work-in-progress Sibylline Nights. Though unlike the last blog fest, I'm only focusing on one couple – Nola and Naima – as I don't want to give too much away! ^_~
Here is Nola and Naima's first kiss. Enjoy.
Once again in the company of Naima, Nola had fallen into old habits, and the two girls found themselves in the night-club toilets ingesting illegal substances.
"Its good having you around again. I've missed having someone who can keep up with my partying," Naima told Nola as they sat on the counter top next to the sink and waited for their high to properly kick in.
"Yeah, I've missed it too."
"Make sure you don't drift away again now that you've found your sisters."
"I'll try. But things are different now. More difficult."
"Because of Geri? You don't need that old hag, you've got me."
Naima slung her arm around Nola's shoulders and rested her head against her temple.
"Its not just Geri. I've changed."
"You mean you're not selling yourself any more? Good for you Nola. You deserve better than that."
"Its not that."
Nola was shaking now, and Naima couldn't help but notice and turned to her friend with concern.
"What's wrong? Have the pills gone bad?"
"No. They're fine. Really good actually," Nola flashed a Cheshire Cat like grin, her eyes wide and glassy. "But there's something I need to tell you. Something you've got to promise not to tell anyone else."
"Cross my heart and hope to die."
"I'm a witch."
Nola expected Naima to laugh, to say she was tripping her arse off, to tease her. What Nola wasn't expecting was for Naima's eyes to widen in shock, and then for her to nod her head in understanding.
"I have magical powers too."
"You do? Why did you never tell me?"
"Well, its hardly something you go around broadcasting, is it?"
"How long have you known?"
"Since I was ten. My mum was a witch too, and when I was old enough to understand she told me all about it. How about you?"
"Less than a month."
"So that's where you've been? With your sisters learning about your powers? They're witches too, aren't they?"
"Yeah. How did you know?"
"Lucky guess. Its usually hereditary. So, what can you do?"
"Move things with my mind. Telekinesis they call it."
"That's so cool. I can't do anything nearly as exciting. All I can do is generate tiny balls of energy, almost like miniature fireworks."
"That is awesome. You could have you own Bonfire night party whenever you want."
"I suppose so, yeah. But it doesn't compare to moving things with your mind," Naima said with a shrug. "So, how did you avoid getting caught by the Champions?"
"I didn't. They actually took my to their facility for a few days. But then my grandmother found me and took me with her. How about you? Why have you never been taken in?"
"I was. I was assessed, and deemed non-dangerous and assigned to a coven."
"You're in a coven, with other witches?"
"Well, I'm not in the same coven I was assigned to any more. But I am in a coven of sorts. We're meeting tomorrow, actually. You're welcome to join us."
"I might just do that."
"I'm glad I found you again," Naima commented as she sipped her glass of deep red wine.
The liquid glittered in the harsh lights of the toilet and Nola thought how much it looked like blood. The imaginary startled her and she shook her head to clear the mental picture. Refocusing her attention on Naima's face, she found her friend smiling at her.
"Me too. We always have fun together."
"Its more than that. I never told you before though because of Geri."
"Geri and I were never serious. You should have said something."
"I was worried how you'd take it. I was scared you wouldn't want me."
"Wouldn't want you? Are you insane? Have you looked in a mirror? You're gorgeous."
Naima blushed and shook her head so that her long wavy hair fell to cover her face. "You feel the same way then?"
"Hell yeah! I've fancied you for ages. I just never thought you'd notice someone like me."
"What do you mean, not notice you? Even before I knew you were a witch I could sense how powerful you were. You're strong and independent. I admire that."
Naima jumped down off the counter top and stood in front of Nola, closing the gap between the two of them, she grabbed Nola's hands and stared deeply into her eyes.
Nola's heart fluttered. As Naima ran a thumb along the outside of her hand Nola stared longingly into her dark eyes. She'd imagined this moment in her fantasies many times before and could hardly believe they were coming true.
"Does this mean what I think it means?"
"What do you think it means?"
And then without waiting for Nola to reply Naima crushed her lips against Nola's, as her arms reached up to snake around her neck and draw her into a passionate embrace.
Fireworks bloomed behind Nola's eyes as the warmth of the kiss spread from her lips into the rest of her body. Desire tingled through her veins, exploding in her fingertips and toes.
She had never been kissed like this before.
Naima parted Nola's lips and gently slipped her tongue inside, where the two tongues swirled against each other. Nola could taste the heady red wine Naima had been drinking, and that only added to the intoxicating sensation of the kiss.
Nola's hands, which had moments before had been clasped in Naima's, were free now and she reached up to cup Naima's cheeks. Nola caressed the other woman's face, her fingers wondered to Naima's temples and then into her luxurious black hair.
Meanwhile Naima's hands left Nola's neck and snaked down her shoulders, before moving across to her neck and upper chest.
Naima felt Nola's heart pounding as her hands slipped down to Nola's breasts and gently cupped them.
Nola broke away breathless.
