Sibylline Nights Pitch

In case you didn't see the post on NA Alley yesterday, I shared my pitch for Sibylline Nights, ahead of YAtopia's New Adult Pitch Contest on July 10th.

Well, I'm sharing my pitch here today, in case anyone wants to have a read, and if you're so inclined offer any suggestions.

I also wanted to thank the girls at NA Alley for hosting the critique session, and offering this help to all writers entering the contest. Additional thanks to LynnRush, Sarah Nicolas, Aimee L. Salter and Juliana Haygert for your comments and suggestions on my pitch, they've been invaluable.

Here's the latest version of the pitch:

Title: Sibylline Nights
Genre: Contemporary Fantasy
Word-count: 105,831 (still in first round of edits, so this will change)
35 word pitch (This is a hard and fast rule. Pitches with 36 or more words will be immediately disqualified): Separated at birth, triplets Esmee, Maggie and Nola are reunited by their new magical abilities. Even with the Paraphysiology Intelligence Division hunting them, they choose to oppose magical terrorists intent on eradicating those without abilities.

Thoughts and opinions, thought please don't feel obliged to. I'm sure you've all had enough of me and my pitch in the last few days.

Right, I'm off to make some important revisions to the first thirty chapters of Sibylline Nights.

Finally, happy Independence Day to all my American writing buddies.

  3. Thanks for posting this- I'm glad I was able to get to see your pitch after all! I think you did a wonderful job summing up Syb Nights in those two sentances, which is not an easy thing to do. Writing the perfect pitch for me, is equivalent to Superman and his cryptonite. Good job on yours, and good luck in the contest.

PS I had a wonderful 4th of July- thank you!

    1. Thanks Jay, your comments are really encouraging, and I'm so glad you liked the pitch. Honestly, I have trouble with pitches myself, and this one wouldn't have been so good without the help of the girls at NA Alley.

PS - Glad to hear it. Did you and the family do anything special?

    2. The 4th is also my brother-in-law's b-day so, we celebrated over at his house. He threw himself a HUGE house party. It was super fun, the only down side, it was HOT as blazes and The Husband had to work. Oh, and my BIL had a pig roast. My little vegetarian Franchesca, cried over the loss of the pig! Poor kid, she really takes it to heart. Ironically, the butcher who supplied the pig, is a good friend of ours, and he is married to a vegetarian!! LOL
