Experiences
of the Day: It's been a bit of
a weird start for me, especially if you consider at this point in
August I'd done 12k already. Firstly, I'm starting 65k into a story,
using NaNo as an effort to finish Cupid, not beginning a shiny new
project I'm all excited about – that isn't to say I don't love
Cupid, I still do. Also, I feel like I'm trying to keep up with a lot
more regarding blogging, messaging and doing revisions on the first
half of Cupid. I think I need to prioritize more, and have some days
just for NaNoing or accept if I try to do everything, I'll only meet
my daily target. I still haven't figured out which is best yet.
On
the plus side, I had a major break through plot wise today regarding
the over-all message of Cupid. During revisions my wonderful critique
partner, and word wars partner Kyra Lennon, asked a question about
the nature of Callie's Cupid abilities, and I tried to answer that in
a scene I wrote today. It lead me to some unexplored, but fascinating
areas, and Kyra and I had a deep conversation about love and destiny.
I'm very excited by what I discovered, and its implications for the
story. So, even though I only did 1911 words today, I feel like it
was a huge success, as I have some important elements for end-game
etc. sorted in my mind.
How is everyone else
fairing?
Awesome job so far Clare! Keep truckin' and I can't wait to hear more about Cupid!
ReplyDeleteThanks Victoria! I can't wait to share more details with you. :D
DeleteI very much enjoyed that deep conversation!!
ReplyDeleteIt's okay if you are only meeting the daily targets - the point is, you're moving forwards! :D
It was an awesome conversation! :D
DeleteYeah, that's what I'm telling myself. I'm moving, and on target to make 50k by the end of the month. That's what counts, right? <3
You're doing great! Breakthroughs like that make it well worth it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! And I think so, what me and Kyra talked about is really the heart of the story.
DeleteCool stuff!
ReplyDeleteAnd don't you dig it when feedback sends you into a completely new area? One that rocks?
Thanks!
DeleteAnd yes, I love that. Which is one of the reasons I love NaNo so much. I find that head space of writing without thinking if it's perfect really allows for creativity to flow.
I love it when things like that happen. I'm waiting for that to happen, and I wrote 551 today, which is just a little bit less than the target :-)
ReplyDeleteHow are you getting on now, Annalisa?
DeleteI love lots of discovery days, they're my favourite. :)
Great job :) I loved today's favourite line, makes me very curious about the background of Cupids!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Can't wait to share it with you. :D
Delete1911 words sounds pretty great to me!
ReplyDeleteIt's always exciting when someone can bring you to a whole new realization in your work! That's great!
Thank you. :)
DeleteIt is great, one of the wonderful things about CPs and having someone to bounce around ideas with. :D
Day one for me was 1800 and day 2 less than 300. It all depends on the flow. Glad your word counts doing well and you still love Cupid. Best of luck and have fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteYeah, it can be a lot of swings and roundabouts. I suppose as long as you make the 50k at the end of the month, it doesn't matter if you wrote more on one day than another. :D
It seems like you're coming a long smoothly! And yeah, like Christine said, you're doing great! It sounds intriguing with Cupid! :)
