Camp NaNoWriMo Aug '12: Day One

Day: One

Where I should be: 1666

Where I actually am:
5004

Word count for today:
5004

Favourite line from today's writing:
"You're going to look so pretty in my collection," he whispered, running a long thin finger down my throat.

Experiences of the Day: I feel like I'm off to a really positive start, and I've enjoyed writing in first person a lot more than I thought I would. I feel like I've slipped into it easily. One of the main problems I'm having is stopping myself from going back and fixing things, or checking facts. I spent a good ten minutes looking up cologne fragrances earlier. I need to keep in the NaNo mindset of no editing. I'm looking forwards to tomorrow, and making some headway on the second chapter.

How is everyone else fairing?

  1. LOL, I did stupid stuff like checking small details when I was doing CampNaNo in June - it's a hard habit to break! But you are off to an amazing start - congrats!

  7. Holy crow- 5,000 words? Rock on Clare!

On a side note, I tend to write everything from first person to start. Third is the most difficult for me to write. So, sometimes, I write it all out in first, then go back and switch. So, good for you that you made that transition so easily!

    Keep up the great work!

    1. Thanks Jay!

I've only written a handful of stories in first, this current one is probably my third attempt. Third person is definitely my comfort zone, but for some reason this story just feels like a first person story. :D

      Thanks again! :D
